Threat to bomb a bank in California, America, creates panic in the area

New Delhi: Security agencies came on alert after receiving a bomb threat to a Chase Bank building located in the US state of California. After the incident, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the entire area and the police took immediate action and took the area under security cordon.

It is reported that a man had locked himself inside the bank building along with several community members. As soon as the information was received, local police, FBI and other security agencies reached the spot and a joint operation was launched to control the situation.

Information about threat received in the afternoon

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, at approximately 1 p.m. local time, they received a call about a bomb threat at the Chase Bank Building at Chester Avenue and 17th Street.

After receiving the information, the police team immediately reached the spot and started investigating the case. Initial investigation revealed that an adult man was present inside the building and had locked himself in the building along with several people.

Police surrounded the area

Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the police created a security cordon around the bank building and the business establishments around it. The primary objective of the officers was to ensure the safety of the people present in the building.

During this time some community members were successful in getting out of the building safely. Police said that no information has been received about anyone being injured in the incident.

Crisis negotiation team took charge

The Crisis Negotiation Team of the police remained continuously active to resolve the matter peacefully. The officials maintained contact with the person concerned through telephone and tried to keep the situation under control.

According to ABC News, Sergeant Eric Celadon of the Bakersfield Police Department said, "With the assistance of our crisis negotiation team and the FBI’s negotiation team, we were successful in securing the safe surrender of one of the hostages."

FBI and Homeland Security also gathered

According to the police, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are also cooperating in the investigation and security operation of the case. Apart from this, additional resources and security forces have also been called from different parts of the state.

As a precautionary measure, many nearby buildings have been evacuated to ensure the safety of people in case of any possible danger.
