Three Indian citizens trapped in job fraud, sent home from Myanmar
Yangon (Myanmar): Three Indian citizens trapped in job fraud in Myanmar have been sent back to India. This information has been given in an official statement released on Friday. The Indian Embassy in Yangon said that a total of 1,757 Indians have been sent back to India since July 2024. The three victims of the Myawaddy fraud were sent back home on Thursday.
“With the cooperation of Myanmar authorities and organisations, three more Indian nationals were repatriated yesterday via Yangon from centers linked to the Myawaddy fraud,” the Indian Embassy told social media platform ‘X’.
“We advise against such job offers,” the embassy said at the end of the post. The government had informed Parliament on December 11 last year that it had taken cognizance of international companies involved in fake recruitment and job offers and so far, more than 6,700 Indians have been rescued from Cambodia, Myanmar and Lao PDR.
