Three killed, three seriously injured in shooting at America’s Rhode Island Hockey Arena

San Francisco, February 17. Three people were killed, while three others were seriously injured in a firing that took place at an ice arena in Pawtucket, America. According to police, the dead also included the attacker, who shot himself after the incident. The incident occurred at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena, where a hockey event involving students from multiple schools was taking place.

At that time, a large number of students and their parents were present in the arena, due to which there was chaos. According to Xinhua report, preliminary investigation indicates that the attacker probably targeted members of his own family. A small girl is also included among the dead. The condition of the three people injured by the bullet remains critical and they are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves told a press conference that police arrived at the scene of the shooting and cordoned off the area. All schools involved in the program have confirmed that all their students are safe and arrangements are being made to reunite families.

Let us tell you that Pawtucket, located just north of Providence and on the border of Massachusetts state, is a city of about 75,000 people. It is the fourth largest city in the state. Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee said on social media that Rhode Island State Police are working with local police to respond. “I pray for all those affected by this incident,” he said.

Following the incident, roads around the arena were closed and heavy police force was deployed in the entire area. Surveillance was also done from helicopter. The incident comes just months after a shooting at Brown University, just a few miles away in Rhode Island. In December, a man opened fire at Brown University’s Baras & Holley Engineering Building in Providence, killing two students and wounding nine.
