Three Odisha Players Selected for Indian Teams in Kho Kho World Cup 2025 | Read

Three Odia players have been selected to represent India in the prestigious inaugural Kho Kho World Cup, which will take place in New Delhi this month.

Pabani Sabar will represent the Men’s Indian Kho Kho team, while Magai Majhi and Subhashree Sing will be part of the Women’s Indian Kho Kho team. The competition, scheduled from January 13 to 19, 2025, will feature a total of 20 men’s teams and 19 women’s teams at the Indira Gandhi Stadium.

The three players, who have previously represented Odisha at the Senior National Championships, have been training at the Odisha AM/NS Kho Kho High-Performance Centre (HPC) for the past eight months under the mentorship of coach Sanjeev Sharma.

Congratulating the players, Sharma said, “I have been working with these players for the last three and a half years, including when I was the head coach of the Odisha State team. Pabani has always been an exceptional all-rounder. He is sincere and dedicated, and he was part of the team that recently won gold at the Ultimate Kho Kho Tournament. I was always hopeful he would make it to the World Cup squad, and I am truly happy for him.”

Regarding Magai and Subhashree from the women’s team, he noted that both faced intense competition to secure their spots in the World Cup squad.

Earlier this month, the Odisha government announced that it would sponsor the national Kho Kho team for the next three years, from January 2025 until December 2027.

In addition to these three players, four technical officials from Odisha will also participate in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup event, which is set to commence in New Delhi from January 13 to 19.
