Ticketing site crashes within minutes of India–Pakistan match tickets opening
NEW DELHI: BookMyShow’s website crashed on Wednesday just minutes after the second phase of ticket sales for the men’s T20 World Cup went live, as fans rushed in huge numbers to grab seats for the much-awaited India–Pakistan clash in Colombo.
The marquee contest was part of the latest ticket allocation and instantly triggered an overwhelming surge in traffic. An unprecedented number of users tried logging in and completing purchases at the same time, which eventually caused the platform’s servers to go down.
“Several users reported failed transactions and unusually long waiting periods. The sheer volume of simultaneous requests led to the server crash,” a source said.
The blockbuster encounter is scheduled to be played on February 15 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
India and Pakistan have been placed in Group A of the. While India have dominated Pakistan in recent years, the nature of T20 cricket makes the contest far from predictable.
The two sides last faced each other in the Asia Cup 2025, where India held the upper hand, winning all three encounters including a closely fought final. With a power-packed squad and strong recent form, India will enter the World Cup as favourites.
