Tilak Varma makes HISTORY, becomes first Indian to ACHIEVE this feat

New Delhi: Tilak Varma continued his incredible form in the final T20I against South Africa at Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, following his century in the previous game. The young batter smashed a second consecutive ton, guiding India to a massive 283/1 after 20 overs. His stunning performance set a new record, making headlines for his explosive batting display in the series finale.

Tilak Varma’s 120 runs off 69 balls in the final T20I against South Africa set a new record for the highest individual score by an Indian batter in SENA countries, surpassing Suryakumar Yadav’s 117 against England in 2022. This remarkable knock helped India post 283/1 in their 20 overs.

Tilak Varma’s explosive knock of 120* in the final T20I against South Africa included 10 sixes, equaling the record for the most sixes hit by an Indian batter in a T20I innings. He joins Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson, who also hit 10 sixes in T20Is against Sri Lanka (2017) and South Africa (2024) respectively.

Tilak Varma became the second Indian batter after Sanju Samson to score two consecutive centuries in T20Is. Both players also made history as the first Indian batters to hit two centuries in a T20I bilateral series.

India set an astonishing record in the fourth T20I against South Africa, scoring 283/1 with Sanju Samson (109) and Tilak Varma (century) both scoring centuries. This marks the first time in history that two batters from a full-member nation have scored centuries in the same T20I.
