Tilak Verma became Impact Player of the Series, broke many records against South Africa
Ahmedabad. Indian batsman Tilak Verma, who batted brilliantly in different conditions, was awarded the ‘Impact Player of the Series’ medal after India’s international T20 series win against South Africa. In a video titled ‘Dressing Room BTS ‘Impact Player of the Series’ India vs South Africa T20I Series 2025′ released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Tilak was presented with the medal by Indian team training assistant Raghavendra Dwagi. When India won the series by 30 runs in the fifth and final T20I at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
At the awards ceremony held in the dressing room, Raghavendra talked about the importance of patience, confidence and flexibility in facing challenges at the international level. This win was India’s eighth consecutive T20 series win, which shows the team’s consistency in the shortest format. In the deciding match of the series, Tilak played an important role by playing a brilliant inning of 73 runs in 42 balls, hitting 10 fours and one six.
Batting with composure, he stitched a crucial century partnership with Hardik Pandya after a strong foundation was laid by the openers, helping India reach a massive total of 231 runs. After receiving the award, Tilak said, “It feels great to win this award for the second time and to receive it from a very special person. The way we played under pressure was great to see. We will be tested in the upcoming New Zealand series and T20 World Cup, and let us win them with the same attitude.”
Tilak was the leading run-scorer in the series, scoring 187 runs in four innings at an impressive average of 62.33 and strike rate of 131.69. His account included two half-centuries, with 73 runs being his best score. Throughout the series, left-handed batsman Tilak Verma displayed his adaptability and understanding of the game. In the first T20, his steady innings of 26 off 32 balls at No. 4 helped India manage after losing three wickets for the opening 48 runs, laying the foundation for a big score later on. In the second match, chasing a difficult target of 214, Tilak fought single-handedly at No. 5, scoring a brilliant 62 off 34 balls while wickets kept falling around him. After this, he played an important role in ending the match by scoring unbeaten 26 runs in the third T20.
