Tim Southee gives a message to teammates as NZ lost to SL

New Zealand Test captain Tim Southee was left in disappointment as his team got defeated by an innings and 154 runs to Sri Lanka. Tim admitted that Sri Lanka is a tough place to tour as New Zealand suffered their first series loss to them since 2009.

“Very tough, on the wrong side of a tough one. But this is a tough place to come. I think in this match it was a lot harder, but in the first game we could have pushed on a bit harder.,” Southee said in the post-match presentation on September 29.

“Need to go home, regroup and go again. India is very similar to this part of the world,” the Kiwi pacer added.

With their fifth loss in eight games, New Zealand dropped to the seventh position on the 2023-25 standings of the World Test Championship (WTC). The next Test series is going to be held against India from October 16 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
India has not lost a single Test series at home in over a decade.
