Time of world famous Mother Ganga Aarti changed due to lunar eclipse… Know what is the new time
Varanasi: The first lunar eclipse of the year is going to occur on March 3, keeping in mind the timing of the daily aarti of the world-famous Mother Ganga at Dashashwamedh Ghat has been changed. This Aarti, which usually starts at 6:15 pm, will now start at 7:30 pm, which will happen after the Moksha Kaal (completion) of the eclipse.
Ganga Seva Nidhi President Sushant Mishra said that due to the lunar eclipse, the time of Maa Ganga Aarti has been changed in Kashi. According to Indian time, the lunar eclipse will start at 3:20 pm on March 3 and will end around 6:46-47 pm. According to religious beliefs, the Sutak period of the eclipse starts 9 hours in advance, that is why the time of Aarti has been changed.
It is noteworthy that last year in 2025, due to the lunar eclipse on 7th September, the daily Aarti of Mother Ganga was performed at 12 noon. This change is happening for the sixth time in 35 years. Earlier, the aarti timings were changed on 28 October 2023, 16 July 2019, 27 July 2018 and 7 August 2017 also due to lunar eclipse.
