Tirumala TTD Silk Dupatta Scam: Now silk dupatta scam comes to light in Tirupati Devasthanam, Rs 54 crore embezzled

New Delhi. Another big scam has come to light in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). Huge fraud has been detected in the silk dupattas supplied to the temple administration between 2015 and 2025. Vigilance Department Investigating revealed that polyester dupattas were supplied in the name of ‘Silk’, the price of which was recovered in crores. The amount of this scam is said to be more than Rs 54 crore.

According to sources, a contractor offered around 15,000 dupattas at the rate of Rs 1,389 per piece and claimed that these were ‘silk dupattas’. But during investigation, when the samples were sent to two labs including the Central Silk Board, the report revealed that the dupattas were not made of real silk, but entirely of polyester.

Investigation handed over to ACB

Responding to the matter, TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu (TTD Chairman BR Naidu) said that we have found some irregularities in the procurement department. Taking serious cognizance of this, we have handed over the investigation to ACB.

Fake Ghee and adulteration case (2024): There was a stir in September 2024 when the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh alleged that the ghee used in the sacred laddus of Tirupati could be adulterated and not pure cowhide. After this, a SIT was formed under the supervision of CBI and investigation of the entire supply chain started.

Parkamani Case (2023): On April 29, 2023, C.V., a clerk attached to the Parkamani department. Ravi Kumar (Clerk CV Ravi Kumar) was arrested. The allegation was that he was stealing the amount of donation deposited by the devotees in Shriwari Hundi.

Increased challenges for TTD

After these controversies, now the Rs 54 crore Silk Dupatta Scam is again raising questions on the transparency of the temple administration. The investigating agencies are now investigating how this fraud continued for 10 years, who was in collusion and the role of which officers is suspicious. The investigation is ongoing and further revelations are expected.
