New drama on Tirupati Laddu controversy; Temple purified, Prasad kitchen purified with cow urine

Amravati: After the news of animal fat being mixed in the Tirupati temple's laddu, there was political turmoil across the country. Meanwhile, purification rituals were performed at the Tirumala temple on Monday. During the puja, forgiveness was sought from Lord Venkateswara Swamy amid chanting of mantras. Also, offering of prasad from outside to the Lord has been banned.

Information has been received from the temple that Lord Venkateswara Swamy was pleased with the 4-hour purification pooja i.e. Shanti Homam Panchagavya Prokshana. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) organized this Maha Shanti Homam after the controversy over mixing animal fat in the prasadam laddu. TTD officials along with the temple priests participated in this event.

What happened in the puja

According to the information received from the temple administration, Maha Shanti Yagya was performed for 4 hours in the entire temple premises and the kitchen where Prasad was prepared was purified by washing it with milk, curd and cow urine. During this, a Maha Shanti Yagya named Panchgavya Prokshan was performed to purify the temple premises. After this, the temple priest claimed that the temple has been completely purified and now any devotee can take Prasad and go home without any fear.

An initiative was taken to purify the temple by organizing a special puja and havan in Tirupati Balaji temple. 20 priests including officials of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board participated in this special event held in the temple. During this ritual, special efforts were made to purify the kitchen by offering laddu and other prasad, so that no one has any doubts in their mind.

Puja started after the proposal

One of the main priests, Sheshachal Dikshitulu, says that a proposal was brought by the government regarding what should be done to purify the temple. That is why we met the temple management with the proposal to perform Shanti Havan. After that, we started this puja today at 6:00 am after taking the blessings and permission of Lord Venkateswara.

How the controversy started

Let us tell you that on September 18, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's party TDP had alleged that during the tenure of YSR Congress Party government in Andhra Pradesh, animal fat and fish oil were being used in the laddus served in Tirupati temple by presenting a lab report. When people came to know about this report, a new controversy has started regarding temples and their prasad across the country.
