Tirupati Laddu Controversy: Subramanian Swamy knocked on the door of Supreme Court, made this big demand

New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy on Monday moved the Supreme Court seeking a court-monitored probe into the alleged use of animal fat in making Tirupati laddus. The BJP leader urged the court to direct the Andhra Pradesh government to file a detailed report on the source and sample of ghee used in making the laddus.

Swamy also urged the court to issue interim directions to obtain a detailed forensic report from the concerned authorities. The petition said that there should have been an internal check to monitor and verify the quality or lack thereof of the suppliers who supply various materials used in making the prasad.

Subramanian Swamy also posted about his petition on the social media platform X. He wrote in the post, “Today I have filed a PIL asking the Supreme Court to direct an inquiry into the baseless allegations of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Naidu has alleged that the prasad of Tirupati Tirumala temple has been adulterated with animal meat and other rotten substances, causing panic among devotees.

Besides, former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam chairman and Rajya Sabha member Y.V. Subba Reddy has also filed a petition in the court seeking an inquiry by an independent committee headed by a retired apex court judge. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's claim that animal fat was used in making laddus for Tirupati during the previous government led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has triggered a massive political controversy. The YSR Congress Party claimed that Naidu was making “vile allegations” for political gains. TTD Executive Officer J. Shyamala Rao had told a press conference on September 20 that laboratory tests had revealed the presence of animal fat and grease in selected samples and the board was in the process of blacklisting the contractor who supplied “adulterated” ghee.
