TMC creates ruckus before election results in Kolkata, alleges EVM tampering, Election Commission responds

After the end of the Assembly elections 2026 in West Bengal, a sudden uproar started in Kolkata on Thursday evening. Trinamool Congress leaders have accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of opening the ballot box. After which TMC leader Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose sat on strike outside the Stadium Counting Centre. After which a large number of police and security forces have been deployed in view of security. However, after a few hours TMC leaders ended the protest.

Let us tell you that TMC has released a video on Twitter accusing BJP of opening the ballot box. The party has written that this is murder of democracy in broad daylight. CCTV footage has revealed how the BJP, in connivance with the Election Commission, is opening ballot boxes without the presence of any relevant party stakeholder. This is a huge electoral fraud being carried out openly with the full knowledge and protection of the Election Commission.

TMC said that BJP tried every dirty trick, name dropping, voter intimidation, central security force terror, cash flood, and failed miserably. Now, out of sheer frustration, they have resorted to tampering with EVMs. But Bengal is not Maharashtra, Delhi or Bihar. We will not sit idly by and watch them rob our democracy.

Our leaders Dr. Shashipanja and Kunal Ghosh are sitting on strike outside Netaji Indoor Stadium. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself will go to the spot and take stock of the situation. The people of Bengal are watching this looting taking place in broad daylight. We will not allow the landlords of Delhi and their puppet Election Commission to steal the mandate of the people.

Election Commission’s reaction in the matter

The Election Commission’s reaction to the video released by TMC has also come to the fore. The Election Commission says that there are seven AC strong rooms inside the Kagudiram Anushilan Kendra. After completion of voting on Wednesday, all of them are properly closed and sealed in the presence of candidates and general observers. The last strong room was closed around 5.15 am. All the strong rooms containing polled EVMs are secure and sealed.

The Election Commission says that a separate strong room has been created for postal ballots in the same premises, where various polling personnel and the ballots received through ETBPS are kept safe assembly constituency wise. We had informed all the observers, returning officers and asked the returning officers to inform their candidates and representatives about this. The Returning Officer has given information to the political parties through mail. The work of separating the ballots was taking place at 4 pm in the corridor of the strong room at the polled place. The main strong rooms are securely locked.
