Former TMC MLA Jahangir Khan arrested, was preparing to flee to Nepal! STF caught near the border

Jahangir Khan TMC Arrested: Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Jahangir Khan has been arrested by the Bengal Police. Jahangir Khan, former TMC MLA from Falta, West Bengal, was caught by the Special Task Force (STF) of Bengal Police from Nepal border. It is being told that the former MLA was preparing to flee to Nepal.

According to the information, STF was searching for Jahangir Khan in connection with the post-poll violence and some other matters. He was underground since the elections. Police traced the location of his mobile number and arrested him today near Nepal border. However, it is not yet clear from where and when he was arrested. Bengal Police may soon hold a conference regarding this.

Seven cases registered against Jahangir Khan

West Bengal Police and STF were searching for Jahangir Khan in several cases. There are seven criminal cases registered against Jahangir Khan. Information Bengal STF used technical surveillance to catch Jahangir Khan and traced his whereabouts through mobile location. The police tracked the phone of a close associate of Jahangir Khan and reached him.

Cases have been registered against the former TMC MLA under several serious sections including attempt to murder, extortion and inciting riots. Apart from this, a case of money laundering is also registered against Jahangir Khan, which is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Jahangir is considered close to Abhishek Banerjee. TMC had made him its candidate from Phalta seat in the recently concluded assembly elections. However, on the last day of the election campaign he had announced to leave the field.

IPS Ajaypal Sharma was threatened

Jahangir Khan was in the news during the Bengal elections, he had openly threatened IPS Ajaypal Sharma during the election campaign. Due to which he came into headlines overnight. Jahangir Khan had said in the style of Pushpa that, Ajaypal Sharma Singham, I am Pushpa, Pushpa will not bow down. However, after TMC lost the elections, Jahangir Khan’s attitude changed and he went into hiding to avoid arrest.
