TMC leader Jahangir Khan, who said ‘I am Pushpa’, left the election field, political stir increased on Falta seat.
Tezzbuzz Desk- A major political development has come to light just before the re-polling in the high profile Falta assembly seat of West Bengal. Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Jahangir Khan announced to leave the electoral field just two days before the voting. His decision has sparked a new discussion in the politics of the state.
Announcing his withdrawal, Jahangir Khan said that he will not contest the elections due to personal reasons. He said in the statement that the Chief Minister is giving a special package for the development of Falta and keeping in mind the interest of the area, he has decided to withdraw from re-election.
Recently, during the election campaign, a statement of Jahangir Khan went quite viral. Reacting to the posting of famous UP IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma as an observer, he had said, “If he is Singham, then I am Pushpa.”
In fact, IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma had warned of strict action against those who allegedly made threats. In response to this, Jahangir Khan compared himself with ‘Pushpa’ in a filmy style, after which his statement went viral on social media.
Phalta Assembly seat falls under the Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha constituency, which is represented by Abhishek Banerjee. This is the reason why the re-polling here is being considered very important politically.
However, during the election campaign, neither Mamata Banerjee nor other big leaders of the party held any big public meeting on this seat.
On the other hand, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari demonstrated strength by holding a road show in Phalta before voting. He conducted a road show in an open car in support of BJP candidate Debanshu Panda, in which a large number of supporters participated.
Slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ were raised during the rally and supporters welcomed him by showering flowers at various places. BJP workers called it a sign of public support before re-polling.
In the recent West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP achieved power with a historic performance. The party won 207 seats out of 294, while TMC was reduced to 80 seats. After this Suvendu Adhikari was sworn in as the first BJP Chief Minister of the state.
Now with the re-polling on Phalta seat and Jahangir Khan suddenly leaving the election field, the politics of the state has become even more interesting.
