MP suspended from Lok Sabha for remaining period of monsoon session
New Delhi. Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee was on Wednesday suspended from the Lok Sabha for the remaining period of the monsoon session for alleged indecency and misbehavior with women members in the House and making unparliamentary remarks against them.
When Lok Sabha proceedings began at 2 pm after two adjournments, Presiding Chairman Krishna Prasad Tennetti said that today MP Kalyan Banerjee has made unparliamentary comments against some women members, written complaint about which has been received by Speaker Om Birla.
He said, this is against the dignity of the House. This behavior of the MP is very objectionable. After this, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal moved a motion in the House that Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee, who used vulgarity and misbehaved with women MPs, be suspended from the House for the remaining period of the current session.
The House accepted this proposal by voice vote, after which Presiding Chairman Tennetti announced the suspension of Banerjee from the House for the remaining period of the session and ordered her to leave the House immediately.
