TMC’s manifesto released for Bengal elections: ‘Many important announcements including permanent houses, financial help to women and youth’

Kolkata, 20 March. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday released the manifesto of her party Trinamool Congress (TMC) ahead of the proposed assembly elections next month. This includes many important announcements including financial help to women and unemployed youth, permanent houses for all, health care at every door, help to farmers, clean drinking water, improvement in school education and formation of seven new districts.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on the occasion that this agenda will serve as a roadmap for her government for the next five years. She said, ‘I appeal to the people of Bengal to unite and fight against BJP to save Bengal. Don’t be afraid if central agencies are trying to scare you. If they are trying to give you money, don’t take it. They bring money and weapons, mafia from border areas and are trying to create unrest and riots here. I am not doing divisive politics. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians… all are the same.

CM Mamata said in a post on social media, “Under the ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’ scheme, women of the general category will get Rs 1,500 every month and SC/ST will get Rs 1,700 every month. The youth who are unemployed will get Rs 1,500 every month as pocket money. Bengal is a destination for the industry. We are number one among MSMEs. 1.5 crore employees work under MSME. Important points of the manifesto

  • An important point of the manifesto is to continue the financial assistance given to women under the ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’ scheme. TMC has promised that it will continue this monthly amount if Mamata Banerjee’s government comes to power again. Besides, it will also increase by ₹500.
  • Banerjee said, ‘Under the Lakshmi Bhandar Yojana, with an increase of ₹ 500, beneficiary women of general category will continue to get financial assistance of ₹ 1,500 (₹ 18,000 in a year) every month and beneficiary women of SC/ST category will continue to get financial assistance of ₹ 1,700 (₹ 20,400 in a year) every month.’
  • He said that the ‘Banglar Yuba-Sathi scheme’ scheme will also continue, under which unemployed youth will be given ₹1,500 every month. TMC has also promised an agriculture budget of ₹30,000 crore to help farmers’ families, support landless farmers and modernize the agriculture sector.
  • Another big announcement in the TMC manifesto is the promise of starting a scheme to provide door-to-door health services under the name ‘Duare Chikitsa’. Under this scheme, the state government will organize health camps every year in every block and city.
  • Mamta Banerjee said, ‘Health services will reach the courtyard of every house. Through ‘Duare Chikitsa’ camps to be organized in every block and city, people will be able to get good quality health services at their homes. He further said that under the ‘Banglar Shikshayatan’ initiative, large-scale improvements will be made in the infrastructure of all government schools.
