Singer Kumar Sanu has been in the news for some time regarding his controversies with his ex-wife Rita Bhattacharya. In an interview given in September 2025, Rita had revealed about Kumar Sanu that he had tortured her a lot during her pregnancy. He had even openly told about his extra marital affair, after which the singer filed a defamation case of Rs 50 crore against his ex-wife. Actually, Rita Bhattacharya spoke to E-Times, in which she spoke openly about the defamation case against her and said that she was surprised that the singer has asked for such a huge amount from her. Expressing displeasure on this, he further said that he does not know how the singer is having these dreams that he (Rita) has so much money. Rita further expressed grief and said that this is very sad and she is quite surprised that he is filing a case against the mother of such elder sons.

Rita has not talked to her ex-husband Kumar Sanu for many years.
Rita further said that he was attacking only her and not anyone else. Cases are also being filed only against them. Rather, they are not against those people who are saying these things and provoking them. Kumar Sanu’s ex-wife said that she has not talked to her ex-husband for the last several years because he does not give her a chance to talk. Never talked to him or the children. Rita told that the singer has blocked her. Rita claimed that she tried to call him but the singer never picked up her calls.

Rita’s claim – the request was made by calling the secretary.
Not only this, Rita Bhattacharya had further told that Kumar Sanu has blocked his ex-wife’s number. In such a situation, he called his secretary and requested him to stop all this and said that all this is a big insult. Rita claims that her son was getting married and her in-laws were asking questions. Kumar Sanu’s ex-wife claimed to have requested him several times and also talked about phone calls, messages and recordings.

Rita Bhattacharya does not think it is wrong to answer
Rita Bhattacharya will make rounds of the court again after 31 years at the age of 63. She had reached the court for the first time regarding divorce. At that time, Jaan Kumar Sanu was in her womb. Regarding traveling to the court, he said that it is quite humiliating. He says that his children are no longer children. He has grown up. Rita’s elder son is 37 years old, the second one is 34 years old and the third one is 31 years old. In such a situation, Rita said that she does not think that it is any crime on her part to answer to people. Kumar Sanu’s ex-wife believes that he did not do anything wrong by replying.
Rita said- I will request with folded hands
Rita Bhattacharya further said for Kumar Sanu that she will see him in the court now and will request him with folded hands that he should just try to become a good person. He became the father of her three children. Rita became emotional and said that if you can’t love then at least don’t bother her and don’t harass her further.
It is noteworthy that Rita Bhattacharya and Kumar Sanu were divorced in Bombay High Court in 2001. Regarding this filed petition, it is said that an agreement has been made between them that both the parties will not make any allegations against each other in future.
