Today in Nashik city, 22 carat gold price is Rs 1,36,570 per 10 gm, 24 carat gold price is Rs 1,48,990 per 10 gm and 18 carat gold price is Rs 1,11,750 per 10 gm. In Surat today, 22 carat gold is priced at Rs 1,36,590 per 10 grams, 24 carat gold at Rs 1,49,010 per 10 grams and 18 carat gold at Rs 1,11,770 per 10 grams.

The government has announced an immediate ban on the import of gold, platinum and silver jewellery. The aim is to prevent abuse of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). A notification by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said that these restrictions would apply irrespective of any prior agreement, irrelevant commercial letter of credit, advance payment, consignment status or any other commitment. Accordingly, the benefits of the transitional rules will no longer be available. No special benefits available under the temporary or interim rules will be available at this time. The import policy for goods falling under Customs Code 7113 has been revised from ‘free’ to ‘restricted’ with immediate effect. This customs code covers gold, silver and platinum jewellery. Importers of these items will now have to obtain permission or license from the DGFT.
