- The Gauhati High Court has issued notices to the Assam government regarding its plans to cut down numerous century-old trees in Guwahati to construct a flyover. A division bench, led by Chief Justice Vijay Bishnoi and Justice N Unni Krishnan Nair, directed the state government to submit its response by November 11. Justice Bishnoi emphasised that the court seeks clarity on any measures taken by the state government or other agencies to safeguard the trees, which have been slated for removal by local authorities.
- A special abhishekam using sandalwood and turmeric, along with a unique archana ceremony, was performed on Tuesday at a temple in the ancestral village of Democrat Kamala Harris, as villagers prayed for her success in the US presidential race. According to local councillor Arulmozhi, if Harris wins, the village leaders are prepared to host an annadhanam (a free community meal) in celebration.
- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha issued a stern warning on Tuesday, stating that the homes of those harbouring terrorists would be demolished.
