Today’s weather 24 April 2026: Rain-storm alert in 13 states, Delhi-UP-Bihar may soon get relief from heat
New Delhi: The scorching heat of April across the country has made the condition of people miserable. The effect of heat wave is clearly visible from Delhi to Kerala, but in the meantime news of relief has also come to light. The Meteorological Department has indicated changes in the weather in many states, due to which a drop in temperature is possible in the coming days.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), alert of storm and rain has been issued in 13 states of the country. The weather is going to change rapidly, especially in Northeast India, where strong winds and heavy rains are expected from April 24 to April 29.
Heat wave continues to wreak havoc in Delhi-NCR
At present, there are less chances of getting relief from the scorching heat in Delhi-NCR. The temperature can reach 43 degrees Celsius on 24 and 25 April. The effect of heat wave will be maximum during afternoon and evening.
However, a slight change may be seen in the weather from April 26, when there is a possibility of partly cloudy sky. The weather may remain similar on 27th and 28th April also.
Signs of rain along with heat wave in Uttar Pradesh
There is a possibility of heat wave in the eastern areas of Uttar Pradesh from 24 to 27 April, while heat will persist in western UP also.
The weather may change on April 28 and 29, when winds at a speed of 30-40 km/hour may occur with thunderstorms and light rain in many districts.
Weather will change in Bihar after April 25
There will be heat wave effect in Bihar till 24-25 April, but the weather will change from 25-26 April. Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur may experience rain and strong winds of 50-60 km/hour. There is also a possibility of hailstorm in some areas.
Temperature will increase in Rajasthan, dusty storm possible
Heat wave continues in Rajasthan. The temperature will remain between 40-42 degrees Celsius and may increase further in the next few days.
Dusty and strong winds may blow in Jodhpur division, while a heat wave alert is issued in the northern parts.
Scorching heat in Punjab-Haryana
The temperature in Punjab and Haryana is being recorded 3-4 degrees above normal.
In cities like Bathinda and Rohtak, the temperature is reaching 43-44 degrees Celsius, due to which people are facing intense heat.
Chances of relief from rain in Uttarakhand
The weather may remain pleasant in Uttarakhand between 25th to 29th April. Light to moderate rain and strong winds may occur in many districts. There is also a possibility of snowfall in high altitude areas.
Rain alert in Himachal Pradesh till April 29
Thunderstorms and rain may continue in Himachal Pradesh from 24 to 29 April. The weather will remain cool and pleasant in areas like Shimla, Manali and Dharamshala.
Red heat alert in Odisha, schools closed
The temperature in Odisha has reached 44 degrees. Heat wave warning continues in many districts.
In view of the scorching heat, school holidays have been extended till 27th April.
Rainy season in Jharkhand from 26th April
There is a possibility of strong winds and rain in Jharkhand between 26 to 29 April.
There may be rain and hailstorm with thunderstorms in Ranchi, Dhanbad and Jamshedpur.
Orange alert of heat wave in Kerala
The effect of heat is no less in Kerala also. In many districts the temperature is being recorded 4-5 degrees more than normal.
Heat wave warning has been issued in Kollam, Thrissur and Palakkad, where the temperature can reach 40-41 degrees.
Heavy rain and storm in northeastern states
There is an alert of heavy rain and storm from 24 to 29 April in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and Manipur. Winds can blow at a speed of 70 km/hour in these states.
