A police officer in northern Tuyen Quang Province rammed his car into a house while trying to swerve away from a motorbike, resulting in the death of a 17-month-old child.
A representative of the Tuyen Quang police on Monday said the driver, a criminal investigation police officer of Yen Son District, is being questioned to verify the incident.
“The driver said he did not consume alcohol before driving, but we took his blood sample for testing. Test results have not returned yet,” the representative said.
The accident happened on Saturday when the 30-year-old police officer was driving an electric car in Tuyen Quang City. A motorbike running from the opposite direction tried to get to the other lane, moving across in front of the car.
The driver tried to steer away to avoid collision. The car then rammed into the main gate of a nearby house, resulting in the toddler’s death.
