Tom Holland explains why it took five-years to make ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
Tom Holland has finally shared the real reason did Marvel take a five-year gap in making a new Spider-Man movie.
The last sequel Spider-Man: Now Way Home came out in 2021, which ended on a cliffhanger as the entire world forgets the identity of Peter Parker due to a spell gone wrong by Doctor Stephan Stranger, played by Benedict Cumberbatch.
While explaining the reason behind the long gap, Holland opened that they all wanted the characters to grow off-screen so that the audience, if watch a new installment, see a refined version of the characters.
“One of the reasons we took a big break… was to allow the characters to grow up off-screen”, Den of Geek reported.
The Odyssey actor further stated, “Audiences who love the original franchise will see a different version of these characters from the outset.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will now continue from where the last film left off as nobody will now recognize Parker and he will now start his life from scratch.
Besides Tom, the new sequel will also feature Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. Meanwhile, it will also bring back Zendaya and Jacob Batalon as MJ and Ned.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is releasing globally on July 31.
