Business will continue as usual

Indian stock markets will remain open on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. This means, trading in BSE and NSE will continue as usual. There are no holidays in commodity markets either. Similarly, public and private sector banks will continue as usual in all states across the country. All bank branches will open as per their scheduled timings. Regular operations will continue without any interruption. As per RBI’s holiday guidelines, banks across the country will remain fully functional tomorrow.

When is Muharram holiday?

Muharram holiday is on Friday, June 26, 2026. According to the official holiday lists of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE), there will be no trading in equity, derivatives (F&O) and currency segments on the occasion of Muharram.
Regarding Commodity Market (MCX):
The morning session will be closed from 9 am to 5 pm.
The evening session will start from 5 pm as per the scheduled time.

3 days long holiday

As this holiday falls on a Friday, the weekend of Saturday and Sunday will give traders a 3-day long holiday. The market will resume on Monday, June 29. Ashura is observed on this day to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain. Banks will also remain closed on Muharram. But since this holiday is state-wide, banks may be open or closed in different areas.
