Top 5 companies spending the most on employees, 1 government also included in the list

Recently revealed data shows that five big companies of the country spend the most on the salaries of their employees. The special thing is that four companies in this list are from the IT sector, while the only government company is from the banking sector.
1. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
IT giant TCS spends around Rs 1,45,788 crore on employee salaries. More than 5.93 lakh employees are employed in the company. TCS is a global IT services company and is known for its training programs and skill development initiatives. Its special identity is its large workforce and diversity.
2. Infosys
Infosys spends around Rs 85,950 crore on employee salaries. The company has more than 3.30 lakh employees. This company, which is rapidly expanding in digital services and consulting, is considered a strong pillar of India’s IT sector.
3. State Bank of India (SBI)
The only non-IT and government company included in the top-5 is SBI. This bank spends approximately Rs 70,395 crore on the salaries of employees. More than 2.36 lakh employees are employed in the bank as of March 2025. Strong salary structure and high job security make it a major employer in the banking sector.
4. HCL Technologies
HCL Technologies spends around Rs 66,755 crore on salaries. More than 2.26 lakh employees are employed in the company. This Noida headquartered company is expanding rapidly in digital transformation and IT services.
5. Wipro
Wipro spends approximately Rs 53,347 crore on employee salaries. The company, with more than 2 lakh employees, is known for its entry-level opportunities, training programs and employee benefits.
