Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 17ethe most affordable model in the iPhone 17 series, in India. The device starts at ₹64,900 for the 256GB variantwhile the 512GB version costs ₹84,900. Pre-orders begin on March 4with sales starting March 11.
Designed as a value-focused iPhone, the 17e delivers strong performance and several flagship features while keeping some advanced hardware reserved for the standard iPhone 17.
1. Powerful A19 Chip
The biggest highlight of the iPhone 17e is the Apple A19 chipsetbuilt on a 3nm architecture. The chip delivers faster performance, better graphics efficiency and improved AI capabilities compared to earlier “e-series” iPhones.
The device features 8GB RAM and a 4-core GPUwhich is slightly less powerful than the iPhone 17’s GPU but still capable of handling demanding apps, gaming and multitasking smoothly.
2. 256GB Base Storage
Apple has doubled the starting storage on the iPhone 17e. The base variant now comes with 256GB storagewhile a 512GB version is also available.
This upgrade addresses one of the biggest complaints with previous entry-level iPhones that often started with lower storage capacities.
3. 48MP Fusion Camera
The iPhone 17e features a single 48-megapixel Fusion rear camera with optical image stabilisation.
Despite having only one camera sensor, the system supports 2x telephoto crop zoom, Night Mode and 4K Dolby Vision video recordingoffering impressive photography performance for a budget iPhone.
4. MagSafe Charging Support
For the first time in an “e-series” iPhone, Apple has added MagSafe support.
This allows users to use magnetic chargers, wallets and accessorieswhile enabling 15W wireless charging. It also expands compatibility with Apple’s ecosystem of MagSafe accessories.
5. Premium Design With OLED Display
The iPhone 17e features a 6.1-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display protected by Ceramic Shield 2 for improved durability.
The phone retains the traditional notch design and 60Hz refresh rateunlike the iPhone 17 which uses Dynamic Island and a higher refresh-rate display. However, it still delivers a sharp and vibrant viewing experience for everyday use.
