Top losers among Nifty 50 stocks in midday trades today, Feb 20: Infosys falls 1%, Tech Mahindra down 0.6%, Eternal drops 0.5%
Indian equity benchmarks were trading in positive territory at 12:10 PM IST on February 20, but several heavyweight stocks from the Nifty 50 pack remained under pressure during midday deals.
The Nifty was up 0.53% at 25,589.65, while the Sensex gained 0.48% to 82,892.39. Despite the broader market strength, select large-cap names featured among the top losers in the index.
Leading the declines was Infosyswhich slipped 1.0% to ₹1,356.4. The stock was the worst performer among the Nifty 50 constituents at the time of reporting.
Tech Mahindra fell 0.6% to ₹1,470.0, while Grasim Industries also declined 0.6% to ₹2,848.5.
Eternal traded 0.5% lower at ₹270.4. Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra were down 0.5% at ₹3,415.0.
Among other laggards, Kwality Wall’s (India) dropped 0.5% to ₹28.5. HCL Technologies declined 0.4% to ₹1,444.2.
Banking heavyweight HDFC Bank edged lower by 0.2% to ₹914.0, while Wipro slipped 0.1% to ₹211.0.
Bharti Airtel was largely flat, trading at ₹1,988.5 with no significant percentage change.
Overall, the weakness was concentrated in select IT and auto stocks even as the headline indices held firm in midday trade.
