Tourist bus going to Nepal collided with a dumper on Phaphamau bridge, spent one and a half hour in traffic jam,
A horrific road accident created chaos on Phaphamau bridge late on Friday night. A tourist bus going from Rajrooppur to Nepal with about 50 passengers collided with a dumper coming from the front at around 2.45 am. The collision was so severe that both the vehicles were blown apart and the bus crashed into the wall of the bridge.
Police arrived amidst screams
Immediately after the accident, there was screaming among the passengers traveling in the bus. Hearing the voices, the traffic police personnel deployed at some distance rushed to the spot and informed Phaphamau police station in-charge Ashwani Singh. The police took charge and immediately took a dozen injured people including bus driver Vimlesh Kumar, passenger Anil Kumar and dumper driver to the hospital.
Ayodhya-Lucknow route stalled for one and a half hour
Phaphamau bridge is an important route to Ayodhya and Lucknow, hence after the accident, long queues of vehicles formed on both ends of the bridge. Traffic was completely disrupted. It took about one and a half hours to call a crane to remove both the damaged vehicles and clear the road, after which traffic could be restored at around 3.15 pm.
The bus had gone from Rajrooppur towards Nepal.
According to the information, driver Vimlesh Kumar had left for Nepal from Rajrooppur with 50 passengers in the bus. While crossing the Phaphamau bridge, a speeding dumper from the front hit the bus head-on. At present, the police is investigating the exact cause of the accident and treatment of all the injured is underway.
