Toyota is bringing the affordable Fortuner SUV

Toyota: Toyota is gearing up to give direct competition to off-roader SUVs like Mahindra Scorpio and Thar with its new 4×4 SUV. The new model is aimed at attracting customers who want a robust and feature-loaded SUV at an affordable price. The new SUV will slot between the urban cruisers Hayrider and Fortuner and will be built on a new platform unlike the Fortuner’s body-on-frame chassis.

Development on a new platform

The new SUV is being built on a new platform, which will support a variety of body styles and powertrain options. This platform may be different from the existing TNGA platform which makes the Innova Highcross more versatile in India.

Toyota dominates the market

After withdrawing the Ford Endeavor from the market, Toyota has strengthened its grip on the full-size SUV segment. The growing demand and price of the Fortuner has brought it up to Rs. 40 lakh has been taken out of the sub-segment. Due to which space has now been created for Mahindra vehicles.

A new strategy in a competitive market

Toyota is now working on an SUV that will be equipped with off-roading capabilities and advanced features without the premium price tag. This vehicle is specially designed for customers who want a reliable and durable vehicle.

Future plans and expectations

The production of this new vehicle is likely to start in 2027. Its launch may take place during the Bharat Mobility 2025 event, which will give it a significant foothold in the Indian market.
