Traffic revolution in Mumbai: Airport in 17 minutes, Gadkari's new plan

Nitin Gadkari : Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the proposed water taxi service will enable people to reach Mumbai from Navi Mumbai International Airport in just 17 minutes, thereby reducing travel time.

It is challenging to catch a flight amid the hustle and bustle of Mumbai and traffic jams. People take two to two and a half hours to reach the airport or railway station. There is a risk of missing the flight if you get stuck in a traffic jam. But there is a possibility of relief with the commencement of operations of Navi Mumbai Airport in 2025. From this new airport you will be able to reach any corner of Mumbai in just 17 minutes, which will reduce the travel time significantly.

Gadkari said a 'jetty' has been constructed near the airport, which will help in reducing traffic congestion and air pollution around Mumbai and Thane by using sea routes. Referring to the New Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, he said that once this project is fully operational, the route of external traffic will change and congestion in metropolitan areas will reduce.
