Mathura Boat Accident: News of a tragic accident has come to light from Vrindavan area of ​​Mathura, where a steamer (boat) capsized in the Yamuna river. The incident took place near Shringar Ghat, in which around 25 people were aboard. So far, about 10 people are feared dead in the accident, while many people are reported missing.

Relief and rescue operations continue on war footing

According to administrative sources, preliminary information has also revealed that about a dozen people are still missing. There is also a possibility of drowning of many injured people. As soon as information about the incident was received, the district administration and police team reached the spot and immediately started the rescue operation. Relief and rescue work is being carried out rapidly with the help of divers. So far some people have been evacuated safely, the condition of many of them is said to be critical.

Hospitals were put on alert

District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh said that this accident happened around 2:45 pm. According to him, about 30 tourists from Ludhiana were visiting Yamuna in boats when the accident occurred. He said that all possible resources have been deployed in relief work and hospitals have been put on alert.

Police teams are working continuously

SP Rural Suresh Chandra Rawat informed that till now many people have been evacuated and sent to the hospital. Ambulance and police teams are continuously working in relief work. He said that repair work was also going on at the spot, and it is suspected that the accident might have happened due to some reason related to that, although the investigation is ongoing.

Orders to give compensation to affected families

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of this incident. Expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, he has instructed the officials to immediately reach the spot and speed up the rescue work. Besides, the Chief Minister has also issued orders to provide appropriate compensation to the affected families. The administration says that the rescue operation is going on and the search for the missing people is being done on a war footing.
