Tragic accident in Visakhapatnam steel plant: 9 workers died due to boiling liquid steel falling

Visakhapatnam8 June. A tragic accident occurred at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in Andhra Pradesh on Monday evening, when a huge amount of boiling liquid steel (molten iron) fell while lifting it. Nine people died and 11 were injured in this accident, the condition of some of whom is said to be critical. The injured have been admitted to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Hospital for treatment.

According to initial information, the accident occurred in the SMS-2 and STC-3 Heat FG department of the steel plant when boiling liquid steel was being lifted through a crane.

1,500 °C was boiling at a temperature of Metal liquid spilled on workers

It is being told that the ladle (big vessel) of this metal liquid, which was boiling at a very high temperature of about 1,500 degrees Celsius, suddenly shook uncontrollably, due to which the boiling hot steel fell on the workers working there. The factory caught fire as soon as steel liquid spilled.

PM Modi expressed grief, announced compensation

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. In this sequence, PM Modi announced to give Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

PM Modi wrote in a post on ‘X’ – ‘I am saddened by the accident at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. Pray that the injured recover as soon as possible. Local authorities are providing all possible help to the affected people.

On the other hand, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan also expressed grief over the incident and posted on social media, ‘Deeply saddened by the death of people in the accident at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant today. My deepest condolences to the grieving families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu also expressed grief over the accident. He has ordered better treatment for the injured and relief measures to be taken by all departments together. Union Minister Bhupathi Raju Srinivas Verma also took information about the accident at the steel plant.
