Tragic accident on Agra-Lucknow Expressway: 8 vehicles collided due to dense fog, bus driver died on the spot
New Delhi: Dense fog once again claimed lives in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. Due to low visibility, several vehicles collided one after the other on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the early hours of Saturday. Meanwhile, a sleeper bus rammed into a container truck parked on the road from behind, due to which the bus driver died on the spot.
In this tragic accident, the passengers and staff on board the bus suffered serious injuries. As soon as the information was received, police and UPEDA teams reached the spot and the injured were taken to the hospital. Due to fog, a total of eight vehicles have collided at different places on the expressway.
Horrific accident of sleeper bus going to Bihar
The accident took place near Gauria Kala village on Agra-Lucknow Expressway under Behta Mujawar police station area. Bihar number sleeper bus (BR31 PB 1342) was going from Jaipur to Bihar via Lucknow. Due to dense fog, the driver could not see the container standing ahead and the speeding bus rammed directly into it.
Bus driver dies on the spot, four seriously injured
The collision was so severe that the bus driver died on the spot. Out of about 20 passengers on board the bus, three people were seriously injured, while the bus cleaner Hariom was also seriously injured. The injured cleaner Hariom is a resident of Madhya Pradesh. He told that the fog was so dense that the two containers standing in front could not be seen and suddenly the accident happened.
Immediate action by police and UPDA
As soon as information about the incident was received, teams of police and Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEDA) reached the spot. All the injured were immediately admitted to CHC Bangarmau, where their treatment is going on. Police have sent the body of the deceased bus driver for post-mortem.
Vehicles collided at many places due to fog
According to police officials, due to this dense fog, about eight vehicles collided with each other at different places on the expressway. However, in other incidents there was no loss of life and only vehicles were damaged. The damaged vehicles have been removed and traffic has been made smooth again.
Administration’s appeal
The administration has appealed to the drivers to limit the speed during fog, use fog lights and drive at a safe distance, so that such accidents can be avoided.
