Haridwar: A painful road accident on Sunday morning in Pauri district of Uttarakhand changed the atmosphere of happiness into mourning. A Maruti Eeco vehicle returning from a wedding ceremony in Dehalchori area suddenly lost control and fell into a ditch about 20 to 25 meters deep from the road. According to the information, this accident happened near Belkandi Kosyat, Dehalchori at around 10:40 am on Sunday morning. A total of five people were traveling in the vehicle, who were returning towards Rudraprayag after attending a wedding ceremony. During this time the vehicle suddenly lost its balance and fell off the road.
Treatment continues in hospital
As soon as information about the incident was received, police and local villagers immediately reached the spot. After conducting a rescue operation, the injured were taken out of the vehicle and sent to the hospital for treatment. In the accident, 49-year-old Anita Devi, wife Shashi Ram Bhatt, resident of Jakhan, Ansal Green Valley, Rajpur Road, Dehradun died on the spot.
The driver of the vehicle, 24 year old Rohit Thapliyal, son of Premchand Thapliyal, resident of Ratura, 45 year old Rashmi Devi, wife of Premchand Thapliyal, resident of Ratura, 54 year old Sudha Devi, wife of Jagdish Prasad, resident of Ratura and a girl from village Bhenta Dehalchori were injured. According to the police, all the injured have been given first aid and their condition is currently said to be stable.

After the accident, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the area. Local people also cooperated with the police in relief and rescue operations. The police have taken the body into their custody and sent it for post-mortem and investigation into the matter has been started. In the primary investigation, uncontrolled vehicle is being considered as the reason for the accident, however, the police is investigating all aspects.
