TRAI asked the question, why no calling-only plan?

Obnews Tech Desk: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recently asked an important question to major telecom companies like Jio, Airtel and VI. TRAI says that many users use mobile phones only for calling, but data is included compulsorily in the existing plans.

TRAI issue: Only calling plan needed

TRAI has tried to find out from telecom companies why they do not offer dedicated plans just for calling and messaging. “We sought feedback from customers, and more than a thousand users suggested they wanted a plan that only allowed calling and messaging,” the authority said.

TRAI believes that it should not be mandatory to include data plans in all packages. There are a large number of users who do not need data, and focus only on calling.

consumer demand

Many consumers, especially senior citizens and those who do not use the internet, have been demanding only calling and messaging based plans for a long time. They say that they are spending more than their needs on purchasing data plans.

questions on companies

The combination of data and unlimited calling is common in Jio, Airtel and VI plans. But TRAI says that these companies should adopt a customer-centric approach and prepare plans according to individual needs.

What could happen next?

This step of TRAI can prove to be a big change in the direction of providing better and affordable options to consumers. If telecom companies implement this suggestion, a new type of competition can be seen in the Indian market.
