TRAI takes new decision to keep SIM card active, now for just Rs 20

TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has recently implemented a new rule, under which now users will have to maintain a prepaid balance of at least Rs 20 every month to keep the SIM card active. If this balance is maintained then the SIM card will remain active. This new rule has been implemented by TRAI and all telecom operators will have to follow it, which includes Jio, Airtel, Vi, BSNL and all other telecom companies.

How to extend the validity of SIM card?
If you have a SIM card and want to keep it active, then you can recharge for Rs 20. After this you will get validity of 30 days, but keep in mind that calling, data or SMS cannot be used during this period. If you use them, then you will have to recharge them. The purpose of this Rs 20 recharge is only to keep the SIM card active. After 30 days, Rs 20 will be deducted from your account again and your SIM card will be activated for 30 more days.

What is the change in TRAI rules?
Earlier, as per TRAI rules, to keep the SIM card active, a minimum recharge of Rs 199 had to be done, which gave a validity of 28 days. Now under the new rules, maintaining a minimum balance of Rs 20 is enough to keep the SIM active. Apart from this, operators have also been given some other cheap options, through which the SIM card can be kept active, but now you will not need more expensive recharge.

This change is a cost-effective option for users, allowing them to easily keep their SIM active, no matter which SIM card they have.
