Use ‘Window of Application’ option

Whenever you book a ticket online through IRCTC application or any other railway platform, the option of “Choice of Berth” appears during booking. This is the option that can help you in getting a lower berth. Select “Lower Berth” in this option while booking tickets. During this process, Railways allots seats on the basis of priority. Whereas if the age of a male passenger is more than 60 years and the age of a female passenger is more than 45 years, then the Railways tries to give them priority by giving them lower berths.

Get a confirmed seat by choosing this option

At the time of online ticket booking, the option “Book only if at least one lower berth is allotted” is also visible. If you need a lower berth seat, then definitely choose this option. Its biggest advantage is that if you do not get the lower berth confirmed, then the other seat will not be booked and your money will also be saved.

Select Senior Citizen Quota

  • Keeping in mind the elderly passengers, Railways gives priority to them.
  • If an elderly person is traveling with you, then select the senior citizen quota.
  • The chances of getting a lower berth in the senior citizen quota are much higher as compared to the general quota.
  • There is approximately a 95 percent chance of getting a lower berth. This can make the journey of you and the elderly traveling with you more comfortable.

It is very important to make advance booking

If you want to get a lower berth seat easily, then advance booking is very important. The earlier you book your ticket, the more chances you have of getting your desired seat. Keep in mind that book your ticket about 120 days before the date on which you are going to travel, so that you do not have to face any problem at the last moment.
