Train on Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line stops due to signaling issue
A train on the HCMC’s Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line stopped at a station in downtown District 1 for 10 minutes on Thursday evening, due to a signal issue, causing delays for multiple other trains.
At around 6:30 p.m., the metro control operators noticed irregularities in the signaling system, which did not follow operational procedures, after the train reached Ba Son station.

After detecting the signaling issue and considering the metro line is still in its early stage of operation, the HCMC Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR) paused operations until the inspection was completed to ensure passenger safety.
MAUR said even minor technical faults are carefully monitored and addressed promptly.
The stoppage at Ba Son caused delays for other trains on the line.
At Van Thanh station in Binh Thanh District, passengers reported that although the train doors closed after they boarded, the train did not depart for another 10 minutes.
“I’ve taken several metro trips since the line began running, but this is the first time I’ve encountered such an issue,” said Thao, a passenger.
The Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line, HCMC’s first metro line, began operations on Dec. 22. Nearly 800 trips served around 400,000 passengers in the first four days, with some stations experiencing overcrowding during peak hours.
At times, overcrowding caused minor delays in departures, affecting subsequent trains due to safety spacing requirements between stations.
