Train travel becomes expensive from today! Know how much it will affect your pocket, what is the news for local people? – ..
If you are going to book a train ticket this morning, you may get a bit of a shock. Railways has increased the passenger fares from today i.e. 26th December. This is the second time this year that fares have been increased.
But don’t panic, this increase is very minor and will affect only those traveling long distances. Railways says that this small step is necessary to improve the facilities and handle the increasing expenses.
So how much has the fare increased?
To understand it simply:
- In ordinary trains (Non-AC): If you are traveling more than 215 kilometers, then you will have to pay 1 paise more per kilometer.
- In Mail/Express and all AC trains: There has been an increase of 2 paise per kilometre.
Understand this with an example: If you are traveling 500 kilometers in a sleeper or AC coach, then there will be an additional burden of only Rs 10 on your pocket.
Good news: These people will not be affected!
The best thing about this increase is that it will not have any impact on crores of common travelers of the country:
- The fares of local trains have not increased.
- There has also been no increase on Monthly Season Ticket (MST Pass).
- Those traveling for short distances up to 215 kilometers will also get tickets at the old rate.
But why did the Railways increase this fare?
Railways says that in the last 10 years, the network of trains and tracks has expanded a lot and new trains have started running. Expenditure on security and facilities has also become higher than before. The salary and pension expenses of the employees have also increased significantly. This slight increase has been made just to reduce the burden of increasing expenses.
On which trains will the new rates be applicable?
This increase will be applicable on almost all big trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Humsafar, Garib Rath etc.
Another important thing: This new fare will be applicable only on those tickets which are booked on or after December 26, 2025. If you have already booked your ticket, you will not have to pay any extra money.
This small change is an effort to improve the railways, so that your journey can be safer and more comfortable than before.
