Trent Alexander-Arnold 'tells Liverpool he wants to play for Real Madrid' on free transfer, report from the European champions' media mouthpiece claims
Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly informed Liverpool that he wants to leave the club to join Real Madrid.
The Reds have stormed into an incredible start on all front under Arne Slot this season, and current sit top of both the Premier League and Champions League League phase.
However, consistent speculation has fixated on the future of three of their most integral players with the deals set to expire.
Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk are all out of contract at the end of the current campaign.
While the situation has remained up in the air in recent weeks, it appears there has been a significant development with regards to Alexander-Arnold’s future on Merseyside.
According to a report from Spanish outlet Marca, the 26-year-old has informed Liverpool chiefs that he wants to depart his boyhood club to join Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

From January 1 the England international will be free to discuss terms for a move away from the Premier League.
The report claims that Real are prepared to discuss terms when the transfer window opens, but notes that the Reds would rather he left as a free agent in the summer than for a fee next month.
The opportunity to play alongside close friend and England team-mate Jude Bellingham is also said to serve as an incentive for Alexander-Arnold to make the move.
Last weekend Jamie Carragher claimed Alexander-Arnold’s legacy at Anfield could be damaged if he elects to leave the club on a free.
‘If he stays at the club. He’ll be remembered as one of the greatest players to ever play for the football club, and not far behind Steven Gerrard,’ Carragher said.
‘If he doesn’t, he won’t be remembered like that. Now, if he doesn’t care about that, that’s fine, but I’m only telling you what Liverpool supporters [think].’
He continued: ‘If I was advising Trent, I would say, it’s not just leaving. I think people understand it with Real Madrid.’
‘A lot of it is the free transfer. That’s a lot of anything. It’s that fear of not you leaving us, [but] “Where’s our money to replace you?”
‘You might not agree with that, but it’s just a fact. I would say, “Sign a contract. Have a decent buyout clause in there that’s not ridiculous. And if Real Madrid want to buy you in 12 months…”‘
Alexander-Arnold has stated 15 of Liverpool’s 18 Premier League games this season and has contributed four assists in that time.
The Reds currently sit six points clear of second-placed Arsenal in the league table while also having a game in hand.
Liverpool’s last league win came during Jurgen Klopp’s reign in the 2019/2020 campaign, when they stormed to a first title in the Premier League era after suffering just three defeats all season.
