Dehradun/Tripura. Shocking new revelations have come to light in the case of murder of a student from Tripura in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. Anjell Chakma, 24, a final year MBA student in Dehradun, was fatally attacked with a knife and an iron bangle (kada). Seriously injured Angel fought for life and death during treatment in the hospital for 17 days, but he died on 26 December.

This incident took place on December 9 in Selaqui area of ​​Dehradun. According to the information, Anjal was with his younger brother Michael Chakma when a group of six youths surrounded them. It is alleged that the attackers first made racial remarks at Michael. When Anjal defended his brother, the attackers attacked him brutally.

Investigation has revealed that along with knives, Angel was also attacked with an iron bracelet. According to CNN-News18, the police also have the bangle which was used in the attack. Anjal suffered serious injuries on his head, neck and back. Her father Tarun Chakma said Anjal’s neck was broken in the attack, which ultimately led to her death. Tarun Chakma, who is a BSF jawan and is posted in Manipur, described the attack as extremely brutal. He said, “My son tried to save his brother, but he was brutally beaten. I have lost my son, now he should get justice.”

The victim’s family alleges that the police did not register a complaint immediately after the incident. According to Tarun Chakma, the police refused to register the FIR for two to three days. Later, the case was registered only after the intervention of All India Chakma Students Union and senior officials.
Uttarakhand Police has so far arrested five accused in this case. These include three adults Suraj Khawas (22), resident of Manipur, Avinash Negi (25) and Sumit (25). Apart from this, two minors have also been detained. Another accused has managed to escape to Nepal. Police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for his arrest and a team has been sent to Nepal.

Anjel Chakma died on 26 December after being hospitalized for 17 days. His last rites were performed at Machhmara village in Unakoti district of Tripura. After this incident, the demand for justice has intensified in Tripura and other parts of the country. People are demanding the harshest punishment for the accused.
