Tropical Storm Trami entered the eastern part of the East Sea on Thursday afternoon, packing maximum winds of 88 km per hour.
The storm, which has become the sixth to appear in the sea this year, is expected to continue westwards at a speed of 10-15 km per hour, still in the eastern part of the northern East Sea, and strengthen to 102 kph winds on Friday afternoon, when it is about 610 km east of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago.
By 4:00 pm on Saturday, Trami is predicted to continue to track on a westward path at 15-20 kph, about 210 km east-northeast of Hoang Sa. The strongest winds at that time will reach 133 kph.
Due to its impact, the northeastern part of the East Sea will experience strong winds.
All vessels operating in the hazardous zones are likely to face thunderstorms, strong winds, and large waves.
In the Philippines, the widespread flooding and landslides caused by Trami left at least 26 people dead on Thursday as authorities scrambled to rescue trapped villagers, according to Reuters.
