Trouble on Shastrinagar-Belwania Gandak bridge, anger among Bagaha residents

Bagaha. There is disappointment and anger in the surrounding areas including Bagaha due to the news of eclipse on the much awaited Gandak bridge project connecting Shastri Nagar (Bagaha) and Belvania. According to the ongoing discussions in the media, if this plan is canceled or changed, it is being considered as a wrong decision against the interests of Bagaha and remote areas. Local people say that all the honorable public representatives should consider this seriously.
Local citizens and public representatives are of the opinion that the widening of Ratwal-Dhanha bridge is welcome, but it should not be at the cost of Shastrinagar-Belvaniya bridge. A bridge on the Gandak river in front of Bagaha Nagar is extremely necessary, which can directly connect Bagaha Nagar along with remote tribal dominated areas like Balmikinagar, Harnatand, Semra Chiutaha, Doan.
This bridge will play an important role in connecting the people of Khadda, Chhitauni, Paniyahwa, Jatha and Piprasi with the sub-division and the future district headquarters. Local people have expressed apprehension that if the Madanpur-Paniyahwa road is closed by the Forest Department in future, the residents of these areas will have to travel extremely long distances for transportation, the practical difficulties of which the local authorities are not aware of.
Local residents have made it clear that any decision to cancel the Shastri Nagar-Belvaniya bridge project will be strongly opposed. He says that any option for the Madanpur-Paniyahwa road should be around this area, and not by increasing dependence on the already existing Ratwal-Dhanha bridge.
On this issue, JDU leader Rakesh Singh, BJYM President Vishal Pandey, Shailesh Yaduvanshi, Pramod Rauniyar, Ravikesh Pathak, Ajay Sahni, America Mahato, Jugnu Alam, Ravindra Kumar, Rajendra Kushwaha and others have warned of agitation against the decision. The leaders said that a struggle committee will soon be formed and a phased movement will be carried out, so that the interests of Bagaha and surrounding areas can be protected.
