Let us tell you that Uttar Pradesh Government amends the excise policy every financial year. Its objective is not only to control the liquor business but also to increase the revenue of the state. This time, Excise Department officials, on the condition of anonymity, said that a proposal to increase the license fee by about ten percent in 2026 has been prepared and it has also been sent to Lucknow Headquarters for approval. According to the information, the final approval will be given on this proposal in January, after which the new rates will be implemented.

This time also the Excise Department has retained the renewal system. It is clear that a new tender process will not be conducted and only existing shopkeepers will get the facility to renew their licenses. This is a relief for traders as it will ensure business continuity. After increasing the license fee, traders will decide the new price by adding their expenses. It is clear that the prices of liquor bottles will automatically increase. The department has not yet announced the official rates, but indications suggest that the prices of English liquor may increase by Rs 15 to Rs 100 this time.

Quarter bottle: Can be expensive by around 15 to 20 rupees.
Half Bottle: Rates may increase by Rs 40 to Rs 50.
Full bottle: May cost consumers Rs 80 to Rs 100.
