Donald Trump compared the proposed agreement to the nuclear deal (JCPOA) signed in 2015 during the time of former President Barack Obama. He said, ‘Barack Hussein Obama’s agreement with Iran, JCPOA, was easy in terms of nuclear weapons. Iran would have got nuclear weapons six years ago and would have used it by now. My deal with Iran is exactly the opposite. There will be a wall for nuclear weapons! In fact, they no longer want nuclear weapons and will not get them. Neither by buying, nor by making, nor in any other way.
What did Trump say on Iran’s nuclear program?
President Trump also claimed that Iran’s nuclear program has been effectively disabled and that the remaining nuclear material will be disposed of at a later stage. He said, ‘At the right time when everything calms down, we will go in and take out the nuclear dust, which is buried deep inside the mighty submerged granite hills. Thanks to our wonderful B-2 bombers and their brilliant pilots, we will downblend and destroy it. Be it in Iran or the United States.
Iran’s denial – no deadline for signing the agreement
At present, unlike Trump, Iran has said that the agreement (MOU) expected between Tehran and Washington will not be signed on Sunday. However, officials did not rule out the possibility of finalizing the agreement in the coming days.
Speaking to state media, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai said negotiations on the document are ongoing and a deadline for signing it has not yet been decided.
