News Desk. US President Donald Trump announced the start of the third wave of his campaign “Operation Epic Fury” against Iran during a conversation with the press in the Oval Office. He said that many top leaders of Iran have been eliminated in the first two phases and now new action is about to take place.
Main goals of the campaign
Trump said that the purpose of the campaign is to weaken Iran’s nuclear capability, ballistic missile program and governance system. He claimed that huge damage has been caused to Iran’s navy, air force and radar system. Trump said, “Most of the people America was looking at as new leaders have now been killed. The third wave is going to start soon.”
First reports of attacks
Trump said that a total of 49 prominent Iranian leaders were killed in the first two waves of the operation. Now new targets will be attacked in the third wave. He stressed that the attack was pre-emptive, so that Iran could not attack the US first.
Iran’s response
Iran has retaliated by launching missile attacks on American targets. US military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and UAE were targeted. Hezbollah increased the intensity of attacks on Israel. Additionally, Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, which could impact global oil supplies.
