According to Axios report, US President Donald Trump is preparing a strategy to capture Kharg Island to force Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz. Kharg Island, located about 25-30 kilometers from the southern coast of Iran, is considered to be the oil hub. It is from here that he gets 90 percent of his oil. Being in the middle of the Persian Gulf, it is also strategically important for Iran. The American Army had also recently carried out air strikes on this island. During this attack, more than 90 targets of Kharg Island were targeted. Which included missile storage bunkers, air defense systems.
Quoting sources, the report further said that the Trump administration is planning to capture or siege Kharg Island to put pressure on Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The capture of Kharg Island could put American troops in danger of a direct attack. This operation will begin at a time when the US Army further weakens Iran’s military capability around Hormuz. If such an operation is approved, it will require more American troops.
