Trump eyes Iran’s treasury, openly threatens to occupy Kharg Island, will America start a ground war?

Trump’s tone, which had recently talked about stopping attacks on Iran, has suddenly changed. Trump has directly provoked Iran and threatened that America can easily capture Iran’s most important ‘Kharg Island’. Intelligence reports are also testifying that America is now secretly planning a major ground military action against Iran. On the other hand, Iran has also made full preparations to give a befitting reply to any aggression of America. Trump’s bold claim: ‘Snatching Iran’s oil is my favorite thing’. Adopting an aggressive stance against Iran, Trump has made it clear that he has his direct eyes on Iran’s huge oil reserves. In an exclusive interview given to the Financial Times, the US President said that America has many options and will not back down from occupying Kharg island if needed. Trump said in a very frank manner, “Frankly, my favorite thing is to take oil from Iran.” Describing the security of the island as weak, he claimed that the Iranian army does not have any special security there, so America can take it under its control without any problem. Along with this, he also indicated that after the occupation, the US Army may have to stay there for some time. Will the US Army take ground action in Iran? Not only Trump’s statements, but the internal activities of the US Defense Department (Pentagon) are also indicating a big danger. According to a CNN report, American officials are preparing for a ground operation in case diplomatic routes are closed. If Iran uses the Strait of Hormuz to put pressure on the world, the US can launch a major attack on Kharg Island. Apart from this, plans to take control of smaller islands like Larak Island and Abu Musa are also on the table. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt has also warned in clear words that if no concrete agreement is reached, America will take more stringent and aggressive steps than ever before. Iran has made it clear that it will not bow down to any pressure. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf has warned that his army is keeping a close watch on every situation. If America tries to damage any Iranian structure, it will get a befitting reply and important targets in the region will also be targeted. Why is Kharg Island so important for America? Kharg Island, located off the Bushehr coast in the northern part of the Persian Gulf, is the backbone of Iran’s economic and military power. According to energy experts, this island is the main gateway for Iran’s crude oil exports to global markets. Crude oil is brought here through pipelines from marine and coastal oil fields across the country (such as Abuzar, Faroezan and Durud). It has state-of-the-art deep water facilities capable of handling the world’s largest oil tankers. Iran runs its defense system and army only through oil exports from Kharg Island. This is the reason why Trump considers it to be Iran’s biggest Achilles heel and wants to attack it directly. Earlier too, this island had been a major center of attacks during the Iran-Iraq war.
