Trump hints at possible regime change in Iran

Amidst the ongoing attacks on Iran, US President Donald Trump talked about implementing the Venezuela model. He indicated that the governance structure could be maintained only by changing the top leadership. Also said that the action will continue for four to five weeks.

America: US President Donald Trump has given a big statement amid the ongoing tension in Iran. He has said that if needed, the US military can continue attacking Iran for four to five weeks. Along with this, he has suggested to implement ‘Venezuela Model’ for the post-war situation in Iran.

Trump says that under this model only the top leader is removed, while the rest of the structure of the government is kept intact. He claims that this reduces chaos after the change of power and the administrative system does not collapse completely.

What is Venezuela Model?

Trump said in a telephone interview that according to him, the model adopted in Latin America was successful. “What we did in Venezuela was the perfect scenario,” he said.

This model means that only the top leader should be removed and the rest of the government should continue. According to Trump, ‘except two people, everyone else’s job was saved.’

How many days will the attacks last?

When asked how long the US and Israel could continue the attacks, Trump said the initial plan was for four to five weeks. He said that it would not be difficult because America has enough ammunition.

He also said that America has military resources in different parts of the world. This indicates that America is ready for long-term action.

Statement on Iran’s new leadership

After the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, questions are being raised about leadership. On this, Trump said that he has three good options for Iran’s power. However he refused to disclose these names. He said that it is too early to reveal the name now. It is necessary to complete the current campaign first.

Trump also claimed that there will come a time when the Iranian army will lay down its arms. According to him, the officers can hand over their weapons to the public.

Will the ban be lifted?

Trump was also asked questions regarding the sanctions imposed on Iran. On this he said that if the new leadership proves to be practical then lifting the ban can be considered.

But he refused to give any kind of concrete commitment. He said that it is too early to say anything on this. Trump said, ‘I don’t make any promises. Now we have work to do and we are doing it very well. We are ahead of schedule.
