Trump made a big announcement, America-Iran talks got approval!
New Delhi: Tension has increased again in the Middle East. President Donald Trump said on Friday that Iran has requested for talks and the US is ready for it. But at the same time he made it clear that the ceasefire between the two countries has now ended. Tension in the area reached its peak after the attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz and retaliatory action from both sides.
Iran asked for talks, Trump agreed
Trump gave the information by posting on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’. they wrote, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue ‘dialogue’. We have agreed to do so." But along with this the 80 year old Republican leader also gave a warning. they wrote, "America has clearly told them that the ceasefire is over! Thank you for your attention to this matter."
Why was the peace agreement broken?
The two countries reached a peace agreement last month after more than three months of conflict. But matters worsened after Iran targeted three ships in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, US forces attacked Iranian military targets in the region. Iran also retaliated and launched counter-attacks. This series of attacks completely neutralized the peace agreement.
War broke out on Hormuz
Hormuz is one of the most important routes for the world’s energy supply. About one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas passes through here. Iran says the strait should now be under its complete control and every ship must pay it fees. Whereas America has rejected it.
US Central Command CENTCOM said on Thursday "Iran has no control over Hormuz." The statement said that since the beginning of May, the US military has helped in the safe movement of more than 800 commercial ships and 380 million barrels of crude oil.
CENTCOM also said that Iran’s air defense systems, coastal surveillance centers and missile-drone storage facilities have been targeted. The statement said, "The US military remains alert, lethal and ready for operations on the orders of the Commander-in-Chief." Now the question is that if talks start, will the ceasefire be restored again, or will the conflict in Hormuz increase further.
